Jon originally trained in dentistry, working as a maxillofacial surgeon in the RAF before studying medicine. Jon is also one of only two Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons in Scotland to hold a specialist qualification in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
His interest in sport has played a large part in other areas of Jon’s life as he played representative rugby union for the RAF and Bedford. As well as this, he is a Council member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise medicine, lead for physical activity promotion at the Royal college of surgeons of Edinburgh and an examiner in postgraduate surgery and sports medicine.
