Alastair Davidson, Consultant

Mr Alastair Davidson has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip & Knee surgery for over fifteen years. His NHS Consultant post is at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust Hospital in Surrey. He has trained under many world renowned Professors & Orthopaedic Surgeons. He spent most of his postgraduate training at London Teaching Hospitals, and a Specialist Fellowship year in Sydney, as well as a final Specialist Training year at the Hip and Knee unit at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. After finishing his training in 2005 he was a Locum Consultant at the RNOH Stanmore, and subsequently Imperial College Hospitals London, before his appointment to Frimley Park Hospital.

He specialises in all aspects of Hip and Knee surgery, including Arthroscopy of the Hip and Knee, Sports injuries, Ligament reconstruction, Joint replacement of the Hip and Knee including Partial replacement, Total replacement and Revision joint replacement. He has experience in customised knee replacement including the restor3d Knee replacement. He has a particular interest in cartilage repair and resurfacing and participated in the recent national MRC ACTIVE trial on Cartilage resurfacing. He has published and presented nationally and internationally. He has taught on RNOH Stanmore courses and to Imperial College medical students, as well as acting as an examiner. He has also had the privilege of being a British Orthopaedic Association travelling Fellow & currently the BOA Clinical Champion for Frimley Park Hospital. Mr Davidson is a member of the General Medical Council, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Orthopaedic Association and the International Society of Technology in Arthroplasty. He is happily married with two children and enjoys his sports such as rugby, golf, ski-ing, fencing, sailing, and travel.
